MATCH REPORTS
League game
Castle Vale JKS U12'S V Chase Stags U11's -Sunday 9TH March 2008
With the need to secure all the points in the next 3 games, the boys had a confident
start with very good passing especially in the midfield which consisted of Ben Houston,
Conor Rendell, John Dodd, Ryan Rogers and Dean Coley. Chase found it hard to
breakdown the JKS resilence and found Ryan Burrows a handful on his own up front.
There were 4 close shaves which resulted from the good work of JKS.
JKS eventually got their reward 10 minutes from the end of the 1st half when Coley
tapped in a great cross from the left.
The 2nd half saw The Stags chase the game and came close three times, one shot
being brillantly saved by Adam Shakspeare. JKS continued in the same vein as the
1st half, with Burrows making the points safe with a great cross shot to secure a
deserved win.
League Game
Castle Vale JKS U12'S -30/03/08 v Erdington Stars U12's - Away.
Coming towards the end of a season that has been a 'learning curve' for our boys,
visiting Erdington Stars was a daunting task after a Bank Holiday break. The need
for three points was paramount. After uneccessary delays which threatened the
postponement of the game.
JKS began shakily with chances being missed against the 10 men of Erdington.
Ryan Burrows clamed nerves by scoring a great goal across the keeper. Erdington
worked hard but our defence was strong and once again the midfield attempted
passing throughout the game alongside John Dodd coming close with good efforts
outside the box. Eventually scoring to make it 2-0 by the end of the half.
A more confident JKS came out for the 2nd half with good dribbling skills by Aaron
Gibbs and two more goals from Ryan Burrows. The Star came close to scoring but
the writing was on the wall when Ryan Rogers (Match of the Match) scored the 5th
goal of the game from a tight angle after some great passing.
With 3 points secured the U12's are nearly there as regards achieving their goal of
staying in this difficult division.
Home - League Shield -Knock -out -Sunday 13/04/08 -
Castle Vale U12's 1 v Heath Hayes 2
With league survival nearly secured. The boys turned their attention to the Shield against
Division 2 opposition. With Stephen Lee away, Paul Broderick deputised at Right Back.
Castle Vale started brightly with the front line pressuring with Chris Moodie having his first
start and doing well, there were some good shots on goal displaying Vale's confidence.
This shook Heath Hayes and very soon Vale was in the lead via Ryan Burrows with an
excellent strike. Heath Hayes fought back for long periods which coincided with an injury
to John Dodd, this left the midfield disjointed and Hayes scored in the second half.
Castle Vale dropped deeper and found it difficult to get out of their half. There was some
great and brave defending from Paul Broderick (Man of the Match), Ben Newton and
Liam Wray. Heath Hayes eventually broke through via a mix-up in defence. Despite an
attempted come back by the Vale, time ran out. Thank you to the parents and club
officials who attended the game. The Boys did the club proud and we hope to meet
Heath Hayes again as they may be relegated from Div 2. Revenge is sweet!!
Under 12's -Away - Castle Vale 4 v Chasetown Jnrs 3-
Saturday 19/04/08
With Division 3 status secured the team wanted to finish on a positive note as the team
that may finish second. Paul Broderick had the privilege of being captain for the last
game of the season and had another soild game. The game was palyed on a windy
and large pitch which effected the passing but lead to Chasetown scoring first via a
mix up in defence but credit to the boys, they carried on working and equalised with
a great and powerful run by the top scorer Ryan Burrows.
Chasetown then scored and it did not look good for the U12's. An adjustment by
the coaches, moving John Dodd closer to Burrows resulted in two quickfire goals
making the scores 3-2. The Vale were on top with another goal from Burrows until
once again Chasetown pulled a goal back (4-3) just after an Vale 'open goal' miss to
make it possibly 5. The defence kept on working this helped the team's confidence
and the team held on.
A well deserved win.
The future looks good for the team and there has been definite improvement.
Thank you to the relatives of the palyers who have generally been supportive of the team
and coaches. The boys have done well to stay in a difficult division.
